Squad Articles: Shadow Crusaders History

The Shadow Crusaders are a Knights of Superior squad on the Lake Superior shard of the multiverse known as Ultima Online. We are committed to providing an environment where our members can learn, have fun, and make friends in the great world of Britannia, as well as provide any support needed to the other great squads in K*S and K*S as a whole.

SC is composed of several great warriors, mages, and rangers, most of whom have 'direct ties' to other great warriors and mages. We also have ties to others who excel in many occupational and crafting areas.

Iola founded SC in July 2001, and chose the name "Shadow Crusaders" to honor two of the greatest groups in all of UO. The Shadow Nation (TSN) was her very first guild. TSN wasn't a large guild, and she wasn't with them for very long, but she learned a lot. "Crusaders" is in honor of K*S. At the time Iola formed this squad, K*S had four squads, three of them had "Crusaders" in their name: Golden Crusaders, Pale Crusaders, and Dragon Crusaders. Iola left Musashi's Marauders when Roger Gray (K*S GM at the time) gave her two options: take leadership of one of the other squads who needed a leader, or form her own. Iola decided to start her own squad for two reasons. First, the other squads were all growing very large. Secondly, since she was still fairly new to K*S, she figured it would be best if she didn't take control of a large squad of veteran K*S members. So, the Shadow Crusaders squad was born.

Teamwork is the main goal within SC. This is not the leader's squad, it is the members' squad. The success of the Shadow Crusaders has always come from its members. SC was a small squad for a long time, but we've always done well against the other great squads in K*S. Because of all of the great members we have now and have had in the past, SC has grown to be one of the largest and most active squads in K*S history, and is currently the 2nd oldest squad in K*S behind GC. All members are encouraged to plan their own squad events, hunts, meetings, sparring practices, llama hunts.
